Popular CAD Software to Learn

In this blog we will check out the list of popular CAD applications or software that one can master to dominate the whole industry.

So, let's check it out.

AutoCAD
The very first software that is recommended by every experienced architects, constructors, engineers, designers, etc. This tool is coming with major two parts that are 2D and 3D. It is mainly used for creating plans and drafts. One can learn this tool to excel in any field whether is architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, auto-mobile, etc. The main reason is that it is a standard platform where one can understand the basics clearly and better than any other platform.

Revit
Next in the queue is Revit, you can learn this tool, if you want to go for BIM. This software is coming in major three parts that are Architecture, Structure and MEP. It is mainly used by constructors. For rendering, you can use V-ray or Lumion with it.

If you want to excel in interior and exterior of plans and big projects then you can go for the text option - 3DS Max.

3DS Max
It is a 3D application, capable to create stunning and realistic environment designs, game character, realistic texturing, lighting and advanced rendering. It takes around 2 to 3 months to learn this application. For rendering, you can use V-ray or Lumion.

SketchUp
Last in the queue is SketchUp (formally known as Google SketchUp). It is an alternative of 3DS Max. It is very light and easy to learn. One can learn it within a month. It supports both V-ray and Lumion for the rendering.

So, these are important must learn CAD applications. If you wanna learn them all then you can join best CAD courses from our CAD Training Institute.

Measuring Tools in SketchUp

The following tools are known as the measuring tools from the large tool box in SketchUp. These tools are used to mention, measure and to create angles of an object. Some examples are given below with explanations:-

DIMENSION:

This tool helps to create a dimension line between the two points which helps keeping a track of dimensions while making the whole model. It shows the measurement above or on the dimension line in the unit selected.

TAPE MEASURE:

As the name given, the tape measure tool is used to measure the distances. It can be used to scale the whole model made in SketchUp. You just have to select the tape measure tool, then click on the starting point from where to measure and as you drag towards the end point to measure, it will constantly show the distance in the ‘Length box’ shown below at the screen. It also creates guide lines by clicking shift while taking measures with step one.

PROTRACTOR:

Protractor tool is used to create a guide in the ratio of five to twelve that can be used to get the angle we desire. This tool is a three click process as on the first click is on the end point of the object, the second click is the reference angle and the third click is for the snap lines shown after every 15 degree increasement on the rotator shown on the screen. You can also type the value in ratio and it will draw the guide at that given angle.
